Burkard Hillebrands at the 25th Pauli Colloquium

12.12.2023

Prof. Hillebrands from the RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau will present his talk “Transport phenomena in Bose–Einstein magnon condensates” on Monday, January 29th, 2024

We are looking forward to the key talk by Burkard Hillebrands (RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau). The presentation, titled “Transport phenomena in Bose–Einstein magnon condensates”, explores the use of magnons in information processing, focusing on magnonic Bose-Einstein condensates and their potential in wave-based computational applications.

Prof. Hillebrands research field is experimental magnetism, in particular magnonics. He is especially interested in nonlinear magnonic phenomena, such as magnonic crystals, magnon gases, magnon condensates, and magnonic supercurrent phenomena. These phenomena could be used in new information technologies, such as magnon logics.

Burkard Hillebrands is full professor of experimental physics at University of Kaiserslautern-Landau. After studies at the University of Cologne and a postdoctoral stay at the Optical Sciences Center in Tucson, Arizona he was associate professor at TU Karlsruhe in 1994 and from 1995 on full professor at the TU Kaiserslautern (now RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau). From 2006 to 2014 he was Vice President for Research, Technology and Innovation TU Kaiserslautern. From 2016 to 2017 he served as Scientific Director of the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden.

We cordially invited anyone interested in this fascinating topic to participate in the event orgnized by the research platform MMM “Mathematics-Magnetism-Materials”, jointly with the Faculty for Mathematics, the Faculty for Physics, and the Wolfgang Pauli Institute. The event includes a pre-talk coffee and post-talk networking session with drinks and sandwiches.
