Talk by Mehrdad Elyasi at the NanoMag

14.11.2022

Asst. Prof. Elyasi will present his talk “Theory of the magnon parametron” on Tuesday, November 15th. The talk will be live and available on Zoom

Mehrdad Elyasi will be visiting the group and will present some of his research to students and scientists. In this talk he will present the "magnon parametron", an Ising spin that forms as a result of parametric excitation of a ferromagnetic particle by microwaves beyond a certain threshold.

Mehrdad is currently an assistant professor at Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, where he initially joined as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow to work with Prof. Gerrit E. W. Bauer. He did his PhD at National University of Singapore, and B.Sc. at Sharif University of Technology. His research interests span a wide range of topics in condensed matter physics, including magnetism, spintronics, metamaterials, topology, and quantum matter. His recent research focus has been on nonlinearity of spin waves and its implications in quantum information.
