Talk by Dmytro Bozhko at the NanoMag

05.06.2023

Asst. Prof. Bozhko will present his talk, titled “Advances in observation of linear and nonlinear magnon spectra” on Monday, June 5th

Dmytro Bozhko’s stay in Vienna includes a visit to our group, during which, besides having discussions with NanoMagners and touring our labs, he will hold a presentation of his research.  Dr. Bozhko received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in physics from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2013, and his doctorate in physics from the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in 2017. After postdoctoral work first at TU Kaiserslautern and the University of Glasgow, he joined the faculty of the Department of Physics and Energy Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2019. There, he now holds the rank of Assistant Professor. Dmytro A. Bozhko is the author of over 34 refereed publications. His experimental studies of linear and nonlinear magnonics are funded by the National Science FoundationHis presentation will focus on research on the behavior of spin waves in magnetically ordered materials, particularly films made of yttrium iron garnet (YIG). Particularly, the researchers constructed a 3D-printed setup for 2D wavevector-resolved Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy, allowing them to directly measure the full spin wave dispersion of thin YIG films in two dimensions. The findings discussed in the talk contribute to a more profound understanding of wave interactions and nonlinear phenomena in magnetically ordered materials.
