Qi received the award for his PhD thesis, titled “Linear and Nonlinear Spin Waves in Nanoscale Magnonic Structures for Data Processing”

We are happy to congratulate Qi Wang for his award from the “The Friends of TU Kaiserslautern”, which is granted to excellent doctoral and master theses.

Qi attended the award ceremony on-line, in which the excellence and importance of the awardees’ work was highlighted. The award covers the wide spectrum of fields in the German university and Qi’s work represented the physics department. During the ceremony Qi used the opportunity to thank Andrii Chumak and the whole AG Magnetism at the TUKL for their support during these years.

The thesis of Dr. Wang focuses on the investigation of linear and nonlinear spin waves in Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) nanostructures in the view of their potential application for future data processing. Qi’s research was funded by the projet ERC StG MagnonCircuits and during his studies he also received the ‘Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad’ in 2018.
