Talk by Carlos Gonzalez-Ballesteros at the NanoMag

17.11.2021

Dr. Gonzalez-Ballesteros will present his talk “Nanophotonics-inspired magnonics” on Friday, November 26th. The talk will be live-streamed.

Carlos Gonzalez-Ballesteros will be visiting the group and will present some of his research to students and scientists. In this talk he will present two nanophotonics-inspired methods to control spin wave propagation, part of his research focused on unlocking the full potential of spin waves.

Dr Carlos Gonzalez-Ballestero did his Masters and PhD in the Nanophotonics group in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. In his thesis he developed quantum theory describing the interaction of quantum emitters with light confined within nanostructures. In 2017 he started his postdoc in the Quantum Nanophysics, Optics, and Information group at IQOQI Innsbruck, led by Prof. Romero-Isart. Funded by a Marie Curie fellowship, he has worked in classical and quantum aspects of confined systems in the areas of magnonics, acoustics, optomechanics, and levitated nanoparticles. Since 2020 he is a senior postdoc in the group and focuses mainly on nanophotonic-inspired magnonics and quantum levitodynamics.
