Prof. Valeri Lozovski awarded both JESH Ukraine program and ESI Special Research Fellowship for Ukrainian Scientists

19.04.2022

Our guest Prof. Lozovski has been awarded financial help to develop his research on Plasmon-assisted Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) spectroscopy.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been met with fierce resistance and a global outpour of solidarity. Many Austrian scientific institutions have started programs aimed to help scientists who have seen how their lives and careers came to a halt due to the attack.

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) has started the JESH-Ukraine Emergency Call, which aims to help researchers who had to flee Ukraine and are now hosted by Austrian institutions.

The Erwin Schrödinger Institute (ESI) established the Special Research Fellowship for Ukrainian Scientists that gives both financial help and a place to work at the for either mathematicians or physicists.

Our guest Ukranian researcher, Prof. Lozovskiy, has obtained both scholarships (2 months each) to work on Plasmon-assisted Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) spectroscopy, which aims to enhance BLS by using near-field optics approach and plasmonic nano-resonators.

We are grateful to both institutions, from ESI specially to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christoph Dellago, for their commitment to Ukrainian scientist who had to flee their country and for the opportunity to establish new fruitful collaborations.
