Inaugural Lecture from Prof. Andrii Chumak (15.03)

17.02.2023

The Inaugural Lecture of Andrii Chumak, titled “Spin waves for novel information systems”, will take place on Wednesday, 15 March 2023 at the Main Ceremonial Hall of the University of Vienna

The German-speaking universities’ tradition of the Inaugural Lecture (Antrittsvorlesung) dates back to the 1500s. Now it is time for our own Andrii Chumak to take part in this long-established academical convention, which serves as a presentation of him and his research to the wider Vienna University’s community. This lecture takes place long after the establishment of the research group, in order to give time to the scientists to present their actual work at the university.

The title of the lecture, “Spin waves for novel information systems”, summarizes its objective: to show the fascinating spin-wave physical phenomena and to highlight their applications.

The ceremony will start at 17:00 with a welcome from Ronald Maier, Vice-Rector of the University of Vienna, and the introductory words from Robin Golser, Dean of the Faculty of Physics. Then it will be Andrii’s turn to take the stage at the beautiful Main Ceremonial Hall of the University.
